Originating from American and in recent years spreading around most of the world, on this day (‘Black Friday’), retail stores will offer huge discounts on their products attracting tons of frugal shoppers. Shoppers are known to set their alarms extra early and if they definitely want to find a bargain they can be seen outside the shop before it even opens waiting patiently. Typically a shop will discount they’re products 50% and in some cases even more. Here crowds of people can be seen trying to get through the front doors to get something before everything’s sold out. The Aldo store here is absolutely jam-packed with people who can barely move, desperately seeking out a good deal. Security guards surely dread this day more than any other in the year as they eagerly try to keep everyone remaining civil. Nguyen Lan Anh, a customer in Hanoi, said although she arrived at the store in the early hours of morning, she then still had to wait for one ore hour queuing just to get inside it. A fashion store is forced to close the entrance door to reduce the number of customers trying to get in. This in turn actually left some customers temporary trapped inside the store. Store clerks are truly tested on black Friday with a seemingly endlessly amount of customers hurriedly trying to pay for their goods and go hunting for more bargains. It can be an extremely tiring and even traumatic day for staff in shops on Black Friday. Originally lasting just one day, Black Friday now will goes on throughout the weekend until 25 November but that’s still not long enough for bargain hunters. Not only shopping centers but also standard retail stores are also offering eye-catching promotions. Prices can be seen reduced to a whopping 80% in several stores. Many stores have launched a unique promotion program by issuing cards to control the number of customers and the discount they’re allowed. The first 30 people will be discounted 50%, the others will enjoy 20%-30% off. This leads to the huge queues of people waiting outside stores in the early morning trying to get their hands on a 50% off card. Discount boards can be seen almost everywhere in Hanoi streets and inside shops. Fashion and clothing stores are usually the most popular for customers on Black Friday and places like mattress and furniture stores find it hard to attract customers.
