Top Hanoi leader suspended from work

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just signed a decision to suspend Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi, from work.

The decision dated August 11 said Chung has been suspended pending investigations and clarification of his responsibility in some cases according to the law. It did not disclose what the cases are.

The time for suspension is 90 days from the date of the signing of the decision.

The Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee the same day decided to suspend Chung from attending activities of the Municipal Party Committee and its standing board.

Chung is a member of the Party Central Committee and the Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Chung, born in 1967, has held key posts in Hanoi’s police force, including the director of the capital’s police, before being elected Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee in late 2015.

He was re-elected Chairman of the municipal administration for the 2016-2021 term in an overwhelming vote.
