The Vietnamese State leader showed his elation at the rapid, comprehensive and pragmatic development of the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership across diverse fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, agriculture, human resources training, cultural and people-to-people exchanges amid the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Quang extended his sympathy to the Japanese people over the great losses caused by a devastating earthquake in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido.
The political trust between the countries has been consolidated through visits and meetings by senior leaders with the typical example of the Vietnam visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress in 2017 and the state visit to Japan by the Vietnamese President and his wife in May, the President said.
Quang said he hopes that Japan would continue providing official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam’s infrastructure, human resource development and climate change adaptation.
He applauded Japan’s assistance to Vietnam in firefighting and search and rescue, as well as activities marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties, which have deepened mutual understanding and strengthened friendship between the two peoples.
For his part, Japanese FM Kono said he is pleased to see the growing Vietnam-Japan partnership in all realms and pledged his best efforts to speed up the implementation of agreements signed by senior leaders, thereby helping to develop bilateral relations practically and effectively.
Japan will support Vietnam’s sustainable development, which will
will contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region, Kono told President Quang, Kono told his host.
He expressed hope that both sides would further coordination and share their views at regional and international forums, such as the United Nations, ASEAN and related mechanisms, especially when Vietnam take on the role as coordinator of ASEAN-Japan relations in the 2018-2021 period.
Japanese FM Kono is on a visit to Vietnam to attend the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) 2018 and co-chair the 10th session of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee.
