At a reception for the Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu in Hanoi on August 8, President Quang said he hoped Indonesia, Vietnam, and other ASEAN countries would work together to realize the goals of the ASEAN Community.
Quang reiterated Vietnam's recognition of high importance on developing ties with Indonesia, seeing the country as a top priority in its diplomatic policy.
The enhancement of bilateral relations is for mutual benefit and for peace, stability, cooperation and joint development in the region and the world as a whole, he added
He also hailed the outcomes of the talks between the two countries’ defence ministers and proposed the two sides actively carry out the bilateral affiliation agreements.
The Vietnamese State leader asked the two countries’ Defense Ministries to effectively implement the signed cooperative programs while urging Vietnamese and Indonesian law enforcement forces working at sea to increase education among fishermen and prevent them from violating territorial waters.
Indonesian Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu briefed Quang on the outcomes of the talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Ngo Xuan Lich, during which the two sides consented to fully and effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on stepping up cooperation among defence officials signed in October 2010.
He underlined the need for both sides to intensify all-level delegation exchanges, build defence policy dialogue mechanism, share experience in humanitarian assistance, engage in the UN peace keeping forces, and bolster cooperation in navy and defence industry.
He added that he hopes Vietnam will play a more crucial role in ASEAN. He also shared Indonesia’s viewpoints on East Sea security and anti-terrorism and increased maritime security.
