|Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste Dionisio Babo Soares.
PM Phuc showed his confidence that the visit by minister Dionisio Babo Soares will be successful, thereby further reinforcing the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The guest expressed his delight at his revisit to Vietnam, saying the aim of the visit is to augment wide-ranging cooperation as well as coordination at multilateral forums.
Bilateral ties have been growing, but their trade value remains modest at more than US$2 million, he told Phuc, adding that a score of measures are being taken to deal with the issue.
He briefed the Vietnamese government leader on the outcomes of his talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and congratulated the country on its socio-economic achievements, especially her freshly-won non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council with a record vote.
PM Phuc asked the two countries to strengthen high-level visit exchange, set up mechanisms to improve the efficiency of trade and investment cooperation, launch more people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding and trust, and sign new agreements or extend old deals to provide a foundation for broader cooperation.
He said he hopes that Timor-Leste would continue helping the Vietnamese community and businesses there with their integration into the local society towards greater contributions to the host country’s development and bilateral relations.
