Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomes Governor of Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture Mitazono Satoshi.
PM Phuc expressed his sympathy for Japanese people over losses and damage caused by the recent Typhoon Habigis and hailed the expansion of locality-to-locality cooperation in new spheres.

The Kagoshima Governor, in turn, voiced his hope for closer cooperation across multiple fields between Vietnamese and Japanese localities, especially between Kagoshima and Vietnam.

Kagoshima prefecture has strength in agriculture and desires to cooperate with Vietnam in this area, the Japanese official said, adding that during his current visit to Vietnam, his delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the northern province of Hai Duong in human resources development and agricultural techniques.

He said he hopes that a direct air route connecting Kagoshima with Vietnam will serve to intensify bilateral exchange and cooperation.

The Vietnamese cabinet leader applauded the idea of the Japanese official and affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to offer the best possible conditions for the launch of the route.

He called on Japan and Kagoshima in particular to further increase investment in Vietnam while assuring that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate Japanese investment in the country.

PM Phuc also suggested the Japanese prefecture take heed to Vietnamese students in Japan and strengthen people-to-people exchanges alongside tourism development.
