PM Phu hailed the strong development of the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership, with economic cooperation as a spotlight, noting that the RoK has become one of Vietnam’s leading partners, ranking first in terms of direct investment.
Vietnam wants the RoK to expand the import of Vietnamese agro-forestry-fishery products, receive more Vietnamese workers, help Vietnam in high-quality human resources development, accelerate the transfer of technologies in support, automobile, mechanic, garment-textile and electronic sectors, he said, adding that Vietnam is running a huge trade deficit with the country.
The government leader also asked the RoK to assist the Vietnamese Government Office in building an e-government. He assured Vietnam's willing to offer conditions for RoK businesses to increase their investment in the country, thereby expanding their operations in Southeast Asia.
PM Phuc underlined the necessity of intensifying cultural exchange and the teaching of Vietnamese and Korean languages in the respective countries, simplifying visa procedures and protecting legitimate rights of the two countries’ citizens.
Vietnam welcomes and supports measures to the Korean Peninsula situation in order to promote dialogues and maintain peace and stability in the region and the world, Phuc told his guest.
He said he hopes that the Korea diplomat will make greater contributions to Vietnam-RoK ties as well as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In reply, Lee Hyuk said more and more RoK businesses desire to invest and expand operations in Vietnam while showing his belief that the bilateral ties will reap more fruits in the time to come.
He called on Phuc to prioritise Vietnam-RoK cooperation and back the promotion of relations between the RoK and other ASEAN countries.
The diplomat pledged his best efforts in any future position to continue to support and boost relations between the Governments and people of the two countries.
