|Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) welcomes Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) Pany Yathotou.
During the reception, PM Phuc affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to support fraternal Lao people, including building the Lao NA House with quality and progress on schedule.
The Government chief said the PMs of the two countries also always offer optimal conditions for Vietnamese and Lao students in the other country and called on the two law-making bodies to provide all possible support for joint projects in accordance with laws, as well as the effective implementation of high-level agreements between the two governments.
Vietnam wishes Laos to further improve its business environment, PM Phuc stated, and thanked Laos for working hand in hand with Vietnam when it takes on the role of the ASEAN Chair 2020, the Chair of the 41st General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41), and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020 – 2021 tenure.
PM Phuc said Vietnam will also assist Laos in hosting important sub-regional mechanisms such as the Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Development Triangle Area, the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Summit, and the Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy in 2020 for the benefit of the two countries and the region as a whole.
The Lao NA leader, in turn, expressed her hope that Vietnamese enterprises would intensify investment in Laos, adding that her nation is ready to help Vietnam fulfill its role as the ASEAN Chair and the Chair of AIPA 41, she said.
With 80% of the Lao NA House construction project has been finalized, she hoped that the Vietnamese Government would ask contractor and relevant units to accelerate the work and ensure its quality and safety.
Pany Yathotou showed her confidence that the Party, Government, NA and people of Vietnam would successfully carry out the resolution adopted by the 12th National Party Congress, hold Party congresses at all levels this year in the lead up to the 13th National Party Congress in 2021.
