Phuc highlighted the Austrian guest’s visit as an important event in bilateral relations and expressed his delight at the constant development of the two countries’ relationship in various fields.
He praised the effective support and cooperation Australia has provided to Vietnam in terms of Official Development Assistance (ODA), health and education-training as well as poverty reduction projects.
The two sides need to promote delegation exchanges, investment-trade-economic ties and other practical measures to mark 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations (1973-2013), Phuc said.
Deputy PM Phuc said he hopes that both sides will work closely together on matters of mutual concern, such as migration and immigration in order to make further contributions to the Vietnam-Australia friendship and cooperation.
Special envoy Houston stated that his country always regards Vietnam as one of its important partners and wishes to further facilitate all-round cooperation, especially in economics, trade, investment, education, culture and defence-security.
Informing the host on the results of working sessions with the Ministry of Public Security and the Border Guard High Command, Houston affirmed that his country will do its utmost to ensure peace and stability in the region and the world and support cooperative activities between the two countries in all fields.
