Vietnamese chess players draw with strong rivals

(VOV) -Grand Masters Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son held their rivals to a draw in the second round of the 2013 Chess World Cup in Norway on August 15.

Despite holding black pieces, Vietnam’s top chess player Quang Liem (elo 2702) drew with his opponent Francisco Vallejo Pons from Spain (elo 2706) after 35 moves.

Meanwhile, his teammate Truong Son (elo 2625) defended well to hold his much stronger Russian rival, Dmitry Andreikin (elo 2716), to a draw only after 22 moves.

Their second-leg matches will take place on the evening of August 15.
