Vietnam wins gold medal at Asian chess tournament

Vietnam has won a gold medal in the men’s team blitz event of the ongoing Asian Chess Tournament in China.

This information was released on May 20 by Vietnamese coach Lam Minh Chau.

Vietnam’s male chess team includes Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Duc Hoa and Nguyen Huynh Minh Huy. They all performed well with eight victories and one draw against strong rivals from India, China, Mongolia, Iran, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea. A competitor from Kazakhstan was the only one who managed to draw with the Vietnamese players.

In the women’s team blitz event, Vietnam bagged a silver medal with six victories, one draw and two losses.
