Swimmers claim victories at US tourneys

Vietnamese swimming talent Hoang Quy Phuoc has won two silvers at the BSS TYR February Meet, which took place in the US from February 10-12.

Phuoc grabbed two medals in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle events after he clocked at 51 seconds and 45.25 seconds, respectively.

In the women’s event, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien also bagged two silvers, and her teammate Pham Thai Nguyen took two bronzes.

Earlier, young Vietnamese swimmers had succeeded in a winter indoor swimming competition during their ongoing training session at the Bolles School in Florida. Phuoc missed a chance to take part in the swim league because of his late arrival in the US.

Phuoc has qualified for the 2012 London Olympics, and he will attend the Indianapolis Grand Prix from March 29-31 in preparation for the world’s largest sporting event.
