Striker Quan top player to watch at AFF Cup

(VOV) -Singaporean version’s Four Four Two magazine has named Vietnamese striker Mac Hong Quan as one of the top 10 U23 players to watch at the 2014 Suzuki Cup.

He ranked second right behind Singaporean player Faris Ramli.

Asia football correspondent for BBC Radio, Guardian, ESPN & World Soccer John Duerden, also author of the article, noted that he has been impressed by Quan since Vietnam's U23 team thrashed Iran 4-1 at the Asian Games.

“His movement and ability to find space in dangerous areas was just too much for the opposition, surprised at the quality of the Vietnamese”, said the article.

“Perhaps starting his club career in the Czech Republic helped as the attacker plays with confidence and intelligence and physically, he likes to get in the faces of defenders.”

Recently, Quan also levelled the score 1-1 at a friendly match with Malaysia in My Dinh National Stadium on November 16.

Other selected players in the list included Chanatip Songkrasan of Thailand, Kyaw Ko Ko of Myanmar, Farhan Roslan of Malaysia, Soukaphone Vongchiengkham of Laos, Zubir Azmi of Malaysia, Evan Dimas of Indonesia, Charyl Chappuis and Sarach Yooyen of Thailand.

Previously, John Duerden also named Vietnamese middle-fielder Phan Thanh Hau in the list of promising football players, Next generation 2014: 40 best young talents in world football.
