Song-rating show on VTV in January

The National broadcaster, Vietnam Television, will launch a new music programme of Bai Hat Yeu Thich (Most Favourite Songs) from January 2012.

The selection of newly-recorded songs is based on the jury’s decision and the audience’s online vote at

The panel of ten judges will be replaced each month with new members to judge nominated songs.

Through this process, the most popular tracks will be chosen on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis, and broadcast live on VTV3.

The creators of the music chart have appointed music composer and producer Ho Hoai Anh as its executive producer.

Anh said the programme would give a boost to the local music industry. "This offers a chance for singers and composers to introduce their works and nominate themselves," Anh said.

The show will present the top 15 popular songs selected by the jury.

Songwriter Nguyen Cuong spoke highly of the interesting format of the programme which, in his opinion, would become a new platform to breathe new life into the music industry.

The vote for songs will be independently audited by the international auditing firm Deloite.

Bai Hat Yeu Thich will be heard at 9pm on the first Sunday of every month on VTV3, with the first programme starting on January 15.
