The event was jointly held by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi Paragliding Club, and the Ly Son district People’s Committee.
The festival attracted the participation of 126 paragliders from 16 clubs nationwide in addition to clubs from foreign countries such as the United Kingdom, Thailand, Australia, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.
In order to participate in the tournament, paragliders have had to get to know the island several days in advance so they can get acquainted with the local terrain.
This year marks Ly Son island’s debut as host for the event and is hoped to provide an ideal venue for both local and foreign paragliders to share their experiences in addition to elevating the image of Ly Son island to a range of local and international visitors.
The festival therefore marks the perfect chance in which to introduce a new adventurous sport to the island and its people during the second Ly Son Culture Tourism Week.
It also marks 30 years since the re-establishment of Quang Ngai province. As scheduled, the paragliding event will take place from June 22 to 24.
