Local swimmer clinches 4 golds at Asian Para Games

(VOV) -Vietnamese swimmer Vo Thanh Tung on October 22 snatched one gold medal at the men’s 50m freestyle S5 category of the ongoing Asian Para Games in the Republic of Korea.

This was Tung’s fourth gold medal during the continent’s largest sporting event for athletes with disabilities. He surpassed many strong rivals, such as Takayuki of Japan and Jam Anak of Malaysia to finish first after 35.40 seconds.

Head of the Vietnamese sporting delegation, Vu The Phiet, are pinning high hope on Vo Thanh Tung, saying the talented swimmer holds great potential to compete for Olympic gold medal in Brazil in 2016.

At present, Vietnam is ranking 9th on the medal tally of 2014 Asian Para Games, with 7 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
