Liem’s another draw at Asian Chess Champs

(VOV) - Despite holding white pieces, Vietnam’s top chess player Le Quang Liem was held to a draw with Arun Prasad of India in the seventh round of the Asian Continental Chess Championships on May 24.

This is Liem’s third consecutive draw at the tournament and he still maintains his fifth place in the rankings.

Other Vietnamese players Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Van Huy and Nguyen Duc Hoa, were also tied by their foreign opponents in their matches.

At another table, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son of Vietnam defeated F. Firman of Indonesia, earning five points and jumping to 10th placeTran Tuan Minh of Vietnam triumphed over Jimmy Chee Meng Liew of Malaysia.

Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Pham Le Thao Nguyen, and Le Thanh Tu all recorded draws in the women’s event, but Hoang Thi Bao Tram lost her match.

Pham Le Thao Nguyen is still the best Vietnamese player in the tournament, leading the women’s group with five points.
