Both teams again battled it out for the scoring title, and the Vietnamese representatives lived up to their spectators’ expectations, outplaying their rivals 25-23 in the third set.
With dominantly physical strength, guest players easily beat their hosts in the following set, forcing both teams to enter the fifth set, which ended 15-10 in favour of Kazakhstan.
In the opening game on April 29, Lien Viet Post Bank overwhelmed Thailand 3-2 in five sets.
After the second round, host Vietnam and Taiwan (China) shared second Group A place with one win and one loss each, just behind Kazakhstan. Thailand stayed at the bottom of the group standings after two unsuccessful clashes against Vietnam and Taiwan.
Vietnam’s Lien Viet Post Bank aim to be one of the top four at the tournament.
