Hanoi spruced up with Flower Festival

The 2012 Flower Festival opened at Hanoi’s Ly Thai To Flower Garden on December 30.

The “Rendezvous of Streets and Flowers” festival this year is taking place along Dinh Tien Hoang Street and around Hoan Kiem Lake with contributions from many artisans across the country.

The festival featured four major topics: Space of Northern Region, Space of Heritage, Space of Legend and Space of Exhibition.

Artisan Manh Hung has created a display in flowers called "The Legend of Vietnam" illustrating the story of Lac Long Quan and Au Co, the original ancestors of the Vietnamese people.

In another noteworthy display, the Hoa Sao flower shop highlights the beauty of the ao dai, the traditional long dress worn by Vietnamese women.

The festival will end on January 2, 2012.
