Hurdy gurdy is a stringed instrument that produces sound by a wooden wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to those of a violin.
It is thought to have originated in Europe in the ninth century.
Guilhem Desq breathes new life and brings innovation into this instrument. He plays a wide variety of genres on it, from traditional European folk to contemporary rock, hip hop and electro.
This talented artist never ceases to explore the infinite possibilities of this medieval instrument to create a universe where space, time and emotions blend together.
