On display are 200 works taken from the collection of Dato’ N Parameswaran, the former Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam who served from 1990-1993, and include drawings, woodcuts, posters and paintings, along with excerpts from poems and memoirs.

The focus of the exhibition, the fourth of its kind, is the works of eight Vietnamese wartime artists: Huynh Phuong Dong, Pham Luc, Nguyen Thanh Chau, Huy Toan, Pham Thanh Tam, Huynh Van Thuan, Le Tri Dung and Van Da.

Its theme was taken from a line in the poem “A soldier speaks of his generation (1973)”, which reads “…our generation has never slept”.

In 2015-2016, the NUS Museum held exhibitions on Vietnam’s history during the 1954-1975 period.
