ASIAD 17 kicks off in Korean Incheon city

(VOV) -The image of Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay appeared at the opening ceremony of the 17th Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in Incheon Stadium in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on September 19 evening.

Ha Long Bay was introduced along with wonderful landscapes of other countries, such as the Great Wall of China, Fuji Mountain of Japan, and massive green meadow of Mongolia.

Present at the opening ceremony were RoK President Park Geun-hye, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, and a large number of officials and athletes from 45 countries and territories taking part in the continent’s largest sporting event.

Talented swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc carried Vietnam's national flag at the event. Vietnam sent 298 coaches and athletes to the ASIAD 17 where they are competing at 21 out of 26 sports in the hope of winning at least three gold medals in such promising events as athletics, swimming, gymnastics, weight-lifting, and shooting.
