Vietnam’s paper industry produced 457,900 tonnes of paper in the first half of this year, up 11.2 percent from the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Paper Association (VPA).

Domestic producers are expected to produce 958,000 tonnes of paper this year, including 760,000 tonnes of paper pulp, to meet 84 percent of the country's total demand, said the VPA. The projected figure represents an increase of 16 percent.

Taiwan and Singapore are Vietnam's key paper export markets, which import such products as tissues and printing and writing paper. The country also exported more than 7,000 tonnes of paper to Malaysia, said the association.
