VOV.VN - The Chinese government on Thursday, July 20, 2017 signed a new trade agreement with the US approving the opening of its market to allow the import of American rice for the first time ever.
Encouraging signs for rice exports after a down-period have boosted the Vietnamese rice market.
Rice traders from China and the Mekong Delta province of An Giang met in the Vietnamese locality on November 18 to discuss measures to boost rice exports to the Chinese market.
VOV.VN - Vietnam exported 368,000 tons of rice in October to get US$164 million, bringing the total rice export volume for 10 months leading up to November to 4.2 million tons with a value of US$1.9 billion, down 21.2% in volume and 16.9% in value against the corresponding period last year.
The rice market is expected to continue gaining ground in export, as the Philippines plans to import a million tonnes in early 2016.
