Vietnam greatly values the traditional friendship and all-around cooperation with Myanmar, Quang said, noting that the flourishing political-diplomatic ties and economic links provide an important prerequisite for both nations to boost their partnership in the future.
President Quang told his guest that he supports the two legislative bodies in furthering cooperation that lays a firm foundation for Vietnam and Myanmar to expand the bilateral friendship and cooperation.
He underlined the need to maintain the existing cooperative mechanisms, and intensify visit exchanges and the relations between localities and people to deepen mutual trust and understanding.
Vietnamese businesses are keen to invest in Myanmar, Quang said, asking Myanmar to support the Vietnamese investors in banking, aviation, telecommunication, mining, tourism, agriculture and consumer goods.
He used the occasion to thank Myanmar for backing Vietnam at regional and international forums and wished the countries to hold more political consultations and promote coordination and mutual support at international organizations to which both are members, especially ASEAN and the UN.
The Myanmar Speaker for his part said he is greatly impressed with Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements and realizes that Myanmar needs to learn from Vietnam’s economic development experience.
He briefed Quang on the performance of the Myanmar Parliament, noting that his country is working hard to revise the law on foreign investment and the law on foreign companies to attract more foreign investors, including those from Vietnam.
