During the meeting, the two leaders shared their views that the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Culture and Scientific and Technological Cooperation and the 9th Conference on cooperation and development of Vietnamese and Cambodian border localities taking place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties (June 24, 1967). These events will contribute to consolidating and fostering the traditional friendship and neighbourliness between the two nations.
Activities marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties will make people of all walks of life, especially young ones, gain a better understanding of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries so to preserve and foster them, Minh said.
He said he hopes that the Joint Committee and the Conference will help ministries, sectors and localities seek appropriate measures to push up the countries’ ties across sectors, in particular economics.
Both sides glowingly spoke of the important role of the Joint Committee and the Conference in boosting all-around cooperation between the two countries.
Acting Prime Minister Samdech Sar Kheng affirmed that he will instruct ministries, sectors and localities to continue working hand in hand with the Vietnamese sides to actualize agreed cooperative contents for more effective cooperation in the time to come.
Deputy PM Minh asked Samdech Sar Kheng to pay greater attention to directing the land border demarcation and border marker planting to spur development in shared border areas.
He also suggested the Cambodian Government should facilitate Vietnamese businesses currently doing business in the country as well as overseas Vietnamese' lives.
The same day, Minh visited Vietnamese Embassy staff in Cambodia.
