Vietnam Airlines meets int'l air safety standards
Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, has been recognised as meeting international air safety standards set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The airline was IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) registered on July 7 after being inspected by an IATA authorised team, said the airline in its press release.
IATA launched IOSA in 2003 and has based its air safety standards on those of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The IATA requires all its members to be IOSA registered and all its new members to pass an IOSA before they join the association.
By being IOSA registered, Vietnam Airlines is expected to become an IATA's official member sometime this year.
