Public communications on territorial waters to be enhanced

The Navy and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) have agreed on joint efforts to raise public awareness of the country’s sea and islands.

Participants in a meeting in Hanoi on March 4 were briefed on the situation of Vietnam’s territorial waters and issues relating to preserving the nation’s sovereignty over its sea, islands and continental shelf as well as comprehensively developing its island infrastructure.

They proposed a series of measures to raise people’s knowledge of the important role of the sea and islands in national defence and construction at present and in future.

They agreed to make civil servants and social classes fully aware of their responsibility to implement the Party and State’s policies on the Vietnam Marine Strategy with the aim of turning Vietnam into a nation that gains strength and wealth from its territorial waters.
